Gelato is a dense, creamy, Italian frozen dessert.  Gelato often has a lower fat content compared to traditional ice cream since it is made with more milk and less cream than ice cream.  Gelato is made by churning the ingredients at a slower rate, which incorporates less air than traditional ice cream creating richer, more intense flavors.  Gelato is also served at a slightly warmer temperature which also helps in enhancing the flavors.
